Welcome to Southern Utah!
In my opinion, Southern Utah and the surrounding western states is the most beautiful part of the country.
I moved to Cedar City, Utah in the summer of 2011 right before my senior year of high school. I didn't know a single thing about the area. We would visit family in Salt Lake City and Vernal every year, but I had never been to southern Utah before. Almost immediately after arriving, my dad took us to Zion.
I have always loved anything that had to do with the Southwest: the patterns, the adobe style houses, kokopelli, and most of all: red rock. I had no idea that southern Utah was part of the red rock southwestern US. Seeing Zion National Park for the first time was incredible. I loved every second of it. What really sealed the adventuring deal for me was an out of the way hike in Parowan Canyon we did just a few weeks later. I couldn't believe the views of different kinds of terrain, or how far you could look out and see. I decided hiking was definitely going to be my thing.
As time has gone on and I've discovered more, I've started to learn as much as I possibly can about the entirety of southern Utah. I obsessively read history books on the area, I stalk smaller websites for information about the hidden hikes, historical sites, or just pretty things we have here. I've only lived in Cedar City for about 6 years now, but I know Washington and Iron counties like the back of my hand. I'm working on Kane, Garfield, and those further east.
